Houses of Parliament

jubilee sundial

Jubilee sundial at Westminster, 2002. Collaboration with architects Julian Bicknell and graphic designers Atelier Works to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. The dial was commissioned by the two Houses of Parliament and is situated in the new pavement on the west side of Old Palace Yard near the statue of George V. The text: ‘To carve out dials quaintly, point by point, thereby to see the minutes how they run: how many makes the hour full complete, how many hours brings about the day, how many days will finish up the year how many years a mortal man may live’. William Shakespeare, Henry VI Part III.
